Police constables charged for assaulting civilians

Two policemen who are accused of assaulting two civilians were on Tuesday, charged. Roger Smith, police constable 25344, and Kevin Watson, police constable 25348, appeared before Her Worship Wanda Fortune at Linden Magistrate’s Court.

The duo was charged with the offence of assault causing actual bodily harm committed on Devon Trotman and unlawful wounding committed on Glen Eastman. The incident occurred on October 11, 2020, at Cinderella City Amelia’s Ward. Through his Attorney-at-Law Leslyn Charles, Constable Smith pleaded not guilty, while Constable Watson, who was unrepresented, also pleaded not guilty.

Bail was granted in the sum of $25,000 each, and the case was adjourned to February 12, 2021, for report and fixture.
