Drivers Fined $50k Each, Licenses Suspended for Reckless Driving

After their reckless driving incident went viral on social media, two drivers each received a $50,000 fine and had their licenses suspended for six months.

Magistrate Shivani Lalaram made the decision in the Georgetown Magistrates Courts on Thursday.

On camera, the incident—which happened on the Rupert Craig Highway in Greater Georgetown—shows a white hauler truck (#GAB 849) and a red Canter (#GAC 1877) rashly swerving through traffic, putting other road users in danger.

Police located the drivers, 30-year-old Jason Dennis and Clive Richmond, 33, and they were arrested on Wednesday. After seeing the video, they accepted being part of the traffic incident.

Both drivers pleaded guilty to the charge of dangerous driving at their arraignment.

Magistrate Lalaram, stressing the seriousness of their actions, imposed the fines and license suspensions to send a strong message against such behaviour.
