A man was on Thursday morning killed in an accident after the motor car he was driving slammed into a concrete bridge on the Windsor Forest public road, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

Police in a statement said Kelvin Ghisiawan of Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was proceeding east along the road when he lost control of the car #PSS 3117 and collided with a concrete bridge which is located on the southern side of the road. The accident occurred at about 4:15h.

There were two children –12-year-old Alyna Deoliver and 6-year-old Josiemla Mafra –in the back seat of the car.

As a result of the accident, the children and the driver were injured. The driver was rendered unconscious. The trio were picked up by public-spirited persons and they were all taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where the driver was pronounced dead on arrival.

The two occupants were seen and examined by a doctor on duty and they were both admitted as patients at the said hospital.

Alyna Deoliver was admitted for observation while Josiemal Mafra suffered a broken left leg and injuries to her body.
