After enduring two reschedules, Elton Dharry and Salmin Kassim are primed to meet in the ring during the Guyana Boxing Board of Control’s (GBBC) Fight Night this Saturday at the New Pegasus.
At a press briefing on Thursday at the Old Pegasus, GBBC President Peter Abdool shared his excitement about the upcoming bout.
“Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong for this fight, we had to postpone twice but we are here now,” Abdool stated.
Dharry is determined and ready to seize the opportunity to become Guyana’s eighth world champion in professional boxing.
“Everybody knows what they get from me, I will respect him in and out the ring but when we get in there I am looking to become champion and I will become Guyana’s next world champion,” he asserted.
Kassim intends to let his punches do the talking as he aims for the title of Tanzania’s first world champion.
In a heated moment, Keevin Alicock and Dexter Marques, who are set to face each other for Guyana’s featherweight title, exchanged intense words, with Alicock daring Marques to put his paycheck on the line.
The Fight Night will feature a total of eight bouts, including four amateur fights, with the action slated to begin at 19:00 hours this Saturday evening at the New Pegasus.
