Cuban National killed in industrial accident at Houston Shipping terminal

A 23-year-old Cuban national was killed in a tragic industrial accident at the Muneshwers Shipping Terminal at Houston, East Bank Demerara, on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Alex Jesus Gonzales Beria, a construction worker who resided at Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara.
Preliminary reports indicate that Beria was resting in a gap beside a shipping container on the terminal compound when heavy-duty machinery was reportedly used to move and stack two large containers in the area. The operator was allegedly unaware that Beria was there at the time.
Beria was subsequently discovered trapped beneath the containers on Thursday morning.
Emergency responders and ranks of the Guyana Police Force were called to the scene following the discovery.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal workplace accident.
