On Thursday, officers from the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) initiated a follow-up investigation in the Cornelia Ida Housing Scheme area on the West Coast Demerara, as stated by CANU.

During the operation, they conducted a search at a residence and discovered 518 brick-like parcels wrapped in transparent plastic, suspected to contain cannabis, along with twelve similar parcels believed to contain cocaine.

Subsequently, two foreign nationals were apprehended and transported to CANUโ€™s Headquarters, accompanied by the suspected narcotics. Tests confirmed the presence of cocaine and a foreign strain of marijuana known as โ€œCreepyโ€.

Simultaneously on Thursday, CANU officers conducted an intelligence-led operation at the Cornelia Ida Public Road area, where they intercepted a motor vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed ten brick-like parcels wrapped in transparent plastic, suspected to be cocaine.

Arrested: Sahadeo Prasad

Sahadeo Prasad, aged 39 years old from Grant 104 Anna Catherina West Coast Demerara, was arrested and taken to CANUโ€™s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic, which tested positive for cocaine.

Investigations into both matters are ongoing.
