On Thursday, officers from the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) initiated a follow-up investigation in the Cornelia Ida Housing Scheme area on the West Coast Demerara, as stated by CANU.

During the operation, they conducted a search at a residence and discovered 518 brick-like parcels wrapped in transparent plastic, suspected to contain cannabis, along with twelve similar parcels believed to contain cocaine.

Subsequently, two foreign nationals were apprehended and transported to CANU’s Headquarters, accompanied by the suspected narcotics. Tests confirmed the presence of cocaine and a foreign strain of marijuana known as “Creepy”.

Simultaneously on Thursday, CANU officers conducted an intelligence-led operation at the Cornelia Ida Public Road area, where they intercepted a motor vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed ten brick-like parcels wrapped in transparent plastic, suspected to be cocaine.

Arrested: Sahadeo Prasad

Sahadeo Prasad, aged 39 years old from Grant 104 Anna Catherina West Coast Demerara, was arrested and taken to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotic, which tested positive for cocaine.

Investigations into both matters are ongoing.
