Archibald expects to be in “peak” form ahead of World Championships in Tokyo

Emanuel Archibald will be the lone representative for Guyana at the 2025 World Championships scheduled for September 13-21 in Tokyo and expects to be in top form when the championships commence.
Archibald qualified based on his world ranking and will represent Guyana in the men’s long jump.
In a brief comment to Big Smith News Watch, Archibald highlighted his level of preparation ahead of the 19th edition of the championships.
“Due to me jumping 8.22 (metres) earlier this season, we have been working on some speed and technical stuff going into championships, so we should be peak coming the 13th of September,” Archibald stated.
Meanwhile, as it relates to his performance at the championships, Archibald expects to get to the medal round of the long jump.
“My expectation at world champs this year is basically to make the finals and after making the finals, be prepared to medal,” the long jump national record holder highlighted.
Archibald broke his own national long jump record earlier this year, improving the mark from 8.12 metres to 8.22 metres.
President of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG), Amanda Hermonstine will also be accompanying Archibald to the event as the congress delegate for Guyana.
The qualifying round of the men’s long jump is scheduled for Monday, September 15 at 06:40hrs local time or 19:40hrs Tokyo, Japan time.
