Slingerz secure Elite League title with games still to play

Slingerz Football Club has secured the championship title of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League in impressive fashion, defeating Fruta Conquerors 11-0 at the GFF National Training Centre in Providence on Sunday.
With three matches remaining, Slingerz clinched the title following a 2-2 draw between Guyana Police Force FC and Guyana Defence Force FC, leaving them 12 points ahead of their nearest rivals, both tied on 31 points.
From the start, Slingerz dominated the match, with Lloyd Matthews scoring the opening goal in the 8th minute. A defensive error led to an own goal by Keyshawn Dey in the 17th minute, putting Slingerz up 2-0. Star striker Kemar Beckford showcased his talent with a hat-trick, scoring in the 24th, 30th, and 54th minutes. Derrell Garcia added two goals, and Kelsey Benjamin, Darron Niles, Solomon Austin, and Raushan Ritch also contributed to the scoreline.
Slingerz’s title win is a testament to their strong defense, having allowed only three goals all season. With an average of over six goals per game. Now, the champions will aim to finish the season unbeaten and could potentially reach the 100-goal mark, having already scored 92 times.
