Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defense Force Brigadier Omar Khan has described the development of soldiers found transporting narcotics as a professional embarrassment.

A professional embarrassment- Brigadier Khan

The busted GDF Staff Sergeant and Sergeant

The Chief of Staff was at the time speaking during an invited comment after the Guyana Police Force Special Branch, the intelligence arm of the force, arrested two soldiers Thursday morning moving the narcotics in an official army vehicle.

“The involvement of the ranks is quite a professional embarrassment which does not reflect the conduct of all our service men and women” Chief of Staff Khan.

Khan said while the development is an embarrassment, he is pleased that it was brought to light so that those with motives other than serving can be exposed.

Arrested and in police custody are 18033 Staff Sergeant Adias Higgings of Lot 800 Burjag Housing Scheme Linden and 22722 Colvis Sam of 63 Area R Turkeyne with more than 150 pounds of narcotics.
