Man kills brother during drinking spree

A drinking session between two brothers ended in tragedy on Saturday night when a 28-year-old man was allegedly chopped to death by his younger sibling at Millie’s Hideout, Linden.
The dead man was identified as Romel Toner, 28, of Kiruni, Linden, while the suspect is his 22-year-old brother, Calvin Toney, a farmer from the same community.
Reports indicate that the brothers were drinking at the establishment around 9:00 p.m. when one reportedly rebuked the other for shouting at a woman who was in their company.
The disagreement escalated, with Romel allegedly arming himself with a knife while his younger brother took up a cutlass.
During the confrontation, the younger man allegedly dealt his brother a chop to the neck.
Romel died at the scene.
His younger brother was subsequently arrested, and the cutlass believed to have been used in the attack was recovered.
Investigations into the fatal incident are ongoing.
