The body of a young man was discovered at his home on Monday morning, shortly after he published a deeply personal Facebook post describing months of severe emotional distress and calling for greater access to mental-health support for young people in Guyana.

The man, identified as Mark Primo, also known as Adaam Primo, was reportedly found motionless inside his home.

The circumstances surrounding his death have not been independently confirmed, and authorities have not publicly released official details.

Shortly before his death, Primo shared a lengthy message on Facebook that has since been widely interpreted as a suicide note. In the post, he advocated for the establishment of a voluntary mental-health facility where young people experiencing overwhelming emotional difficulties could seek temporary, professional support before reaching a crisis point.

“Guyana needs a mental health facility where young people can voluntarily check themselves in when life gets overwhelming, somewhere safe where you can step away from the world for a day or two, clear your mind, talk to professionals, get help and just breathe without judgement.”

Primo said he believed too many young people were struggling silently and urged greater recognition of mental health as an issue deserving the same attention as physical health.

He revealed that he had been battling serious emotional difficulties for approximately nine months while continuing to present himself as though everything was normal to those around him.

“I act like everything is perfectly fine,” he wrote, explaining that he frequently avoided conversations about his wellbeing because he struggled to put his feelings into words and feared becoming a burden to others.

Primo also reflected on the challenges of growing up without a consistent parental figure or mentor. He said he often felt as though he had been forced to navigate life largely on his own, facing setbacks without having someone he considered safe to approach for guidance.

Although he acknowledged having caring friends, Primo said he was hesitant to repeatedly seek their assistance because he believed they were already dealing with difficulties of their own.

He also described challenging family circumstances and expressed pain over not receiving the level of support from relatives that he had hoped for.

Among the most concerning aspects of his account were his descriptions of prolonged sleep deprivation. Primo said he had gone weeks getting only a few hours of sleep each night, leaving him frightened and feeling as though he was losing control.

His final message has since prompted renewed discussion online about mental-health challenges among young people and the need for accessible, non-judgmental avenues for individuals experiencing emotional crises.

While the Facebook post provides insight into Primo’s reported state of mind, it does not independently establish the circumstances or cause of his death. Those details remain subject to official confirmation.

The incident has also highlighted the importance of taking expressions of severe emotional distress seriously and ensuring that people experiencing a mental-health crisis are connected with immediate professional or emergency support.
