Guyana has moved up one place in the 2020 Corruption Perception Index which was launched on Thursday. Guyana ranks 83 in the Americas with its score at 41 according to the Index.

The index which is produced by Transparency International ranks 180 countries and territories by their “perceived levels of public sector corruption, according to experts and business people,” the body said.
The 2020 CPI report highlights the “impact of corruption on government responses to COVID-19, comparing countries’ performance in the index to their investment in health care and the extent to which democratic norms and institutions have been weakened during the pandemic.”
Guyana had scored 37 in 2018, 40 in 2019 and has now moved up to 41 in 2020.  According to Transparency International Guyana has moved 13 places up since 2012.
