Rape, robbery and attempted murder among 14 charges for ‘Labba’

Police appear to have halted a months-long crime spree of armed robbery, rape and attempted murder that was allegedly committed on hapless East Coast Demerara residents by a 31-year-old man and his gang.

 

 

The alleged mastermind is said to be 31-year-old Dexter Mc Donald, called ‘Labba’ , of Lot 73 Buxton Middle Walk, East Coast Demerara, for whom police had issued an arrest warrant in March 2023.

 

 

He was remanded on Tuesday, May 21 on 14 charges.

 

These include the attempted murder of

Guyana Defence Force rank Azim Khan on May 6, 2024, at Lot 534 Block Eight, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.

 

 

Private Azim Khan was shot by one of two men, who had broken into the home of the victim’s aunt.

 

 

His condition is listed as critical.

Mc Donald, who was arrested on May 17,

appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabio Azore, and was refused bail.

 

 

He is also on three charge of rape, committed at knife and gunpoint.

He was also charged with robbery under arms, committed on Hardeo Chairanji, on 2024-1-24 at lot 316 Block 8 Mon Repos, ECD.

 

 

The victim was allegedly relieved of

a TCL smartphone valued at $ 80,000, one television set valued at $150,000.

 

 

Break and enter and larceny, committed on Vestery Persaud , on April 28 at Lot 343 Eighth Street Martyrs Ville Mon Repos, where two STIHL weeding machines valued at $320,000 were stolen.

 

 

Robbery under arms (gun/knife) committed on Ramdular Seewah on April 18 at Lot 856 Martyrs Ville Block 8 Mon Repos, during which $60,000 was stolen; robbery under arms on Durgine Churman on April 18 at Lot 856 Mon Repos; during which the victim was relieved of two Samsung cellphones valued at $220,000; several pieces of gold jewelry valued at $388,000; and an Amazon tablet valued at $20,000.

Burglary committed at the dwelling house of Junior Blair, during which one 9 mm Taurus Pistol valued at $215,000 and 12 live rounds of ammunition, property of the Guyana Police Force, were stolen on April 15, 2024.
