“Curry” beaten to death at Honey Camp Landing

A man known only as “Curry” was killed following a brutal assault at Honey Camp Landing in the Middle Mazaruni on Tuesday morning.
The incident reportedly occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. and stemmed from accusations that the man had stolen items from residents in the area.
According to police, Curry, who had no fixed place of abode and was known to perform odd jobs around Honey Camp Landing, was confronted by a group of men.
During the altercation, he was allegedly subjected to a prolonged and violent beating.
Reports indicate that he was dragged along the ground with a belt around his neck and struck multiple times with a spade, cutlasses, and pieces of wood. An acidic substance was also allegedly thrown on him during the attack.
After the assault, the injured man was left lying on the sand near an abandoned shop.
He was later discovered motionless and was pronounced dead. An examination of the body revealed what appeared to be multiple abrasions and burn injuries.
Police say several persons have since been detained as efforts continue to determine the full circumstances that led to the fatal attack.
