3-years imprisonment for man found guilty of narcotic possession.

Akim Spellen,28, of Charity Housing Scheme Essequibo Coast, was charged on Monday, for the offence of Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, after being found in possession of 165.5 grams of cannabis on Friday 9th June 2023, at Charity Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast.
The charge was laid under Section 5 (1) ( a) (i) of the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10 and the defendant appeared at the Charity, Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Miss Esther Sam, where the charge was read to him and he pleaded guilty.
He was sentenced to three years imprisonment with a fine of $248,250.
