Man hangs self in lockups one day before court appearance

Woman takes her life after checking into short-time hotel

A 51-Y-O man was this afternoon discovered dead in the Springlands Police Station Lockups where he was detained since yesterday. The name of the man is not immediately available to this publication.

BIG Smith News Watch has been informed that the man was arrested Monday Afternoon after his reputed wife reported to the police that the man threatened to kill her and their 3-Year Old Daughter.

According to what this publication was told, the detainee who was in the lockups cell alone, used the lace from his pants waist to hang himself after tying same around his neck and connecting it to the grill work at the lockups.

Police sources related that the deceased man resided at No. 77 Village, Corentyne Berbice.

We were told also, that it was during the report of the threatening language behaviour against the man that the police were also told that the suspect reportedly sexually interfered with a minor.

The child was however taken for a medical examination and no signs of penetration were found to have occurred.

Investigations into the death of the man are ongoing.
