Lawrie, Persaud remanded on conspiracy charges

Antonio Alonzo Lawrie, 33, and Gregory Persaud, 21, both of Farm Village, East Bank Demerara, have been jointly charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.
On Monday, June 8, 2026, the men appeared before Magistrate Rhondel Weever at the Wales Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to them.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty.
Bail was refused, and they were remanded to prison. The matter has been adjourned to July 29, 2026.
Gregory Persaud was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Without Licence, contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.
He appeared before His Worship Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court on the same day, where the charge was read. Persaud pleaded not guilty.
He was granted bail in the sum of $400,000 and ordered to report to police every Friday.
That matter has been adjourned to July 3, 2026.
