Coaching Staff Earns Praise Ahead of Crucial Rugby Test

Ryan Gonsalves – President of GRFU
The efforts of Guyana’s coaching staff have been singled out for praise as the national rugby team intensifies preparations for its next international engagement against Barbados on June 6.
President of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU), Ryan Gonsalves highlighted the dedication shown by coaches and players alike, noting that the group has remained focused despite weather-related setbacks.
“The coaches have been putting in tremendous work even though we having a lot of rain that is interrupting our match practice and stuff,” Gonsalves said.
The national side has used the period since its last meeting with Bermuda to identify and correct weaknesses that prevented them from achieving the desired outcome.
“We definitely learned from the mistakes in the last game from Bermuda at home. So we have been working on those mistakes,” he noted.
Despite the interrupted training schedule, Gonsalves remains encouraged by the attitude displayed throughout the camp, emphasizing that the team has not allowed adverse conditions to derail its preparation.
“We not worried about that,” he added.
With the squad reportedly in strong condition and players continuing to put in the necessary work, the union president believes the foundation has been laid for a successful outing.
“The squad is in good shape and the guys have been working hard. They just need to get it done.”
As the match approaches, Guyana’s hopes will rest on the ability of players and coaches to convert months of preparation into results on the field.
