Two arrested for possession of 10kg ‘foreign weed’

Ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Saturday intercepted a quantity of foreign marijuana during an operation at Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.
According to reports, officers acting on intelligence stopped a motor vehicle and conducted a search, which led to the discovery of ten brick-like parcels containing suspected cannabis.
Two men—Austin Jawahir, 25, of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, and Jose Presilla, 22—were arrested at the scene and escorted to CANU Headquarters.
The narcotics were weighed and amounted to approximately 10.992 kilograms.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
