Man killed after confrontation on North Road

An unidentified man was killed during an early morning altercation on Sunday along North Road, between Alexander and Camp Streets in Georgetown.
According to Police, the incident reportedly occurred around 07:45 hrs, when the man—described as having dreadlocks—was standing in front of a bar in the area. He became involved in a confrontation with another male, who was said to be armed with a handgun.
The dispute escalated quickly, with the suspect allegedly dealing the man several blows to the head. A loud explosion was then heard, after which the suspect reportedly walked away, leaving the victim lying motionless on the roadway.
Emergency Medical Technicians were called to the scene, where the man was pronounced dead by a doctor.
Items recovered near the body included a suspected .32 spent shell and a brown leather holster. CCTV cameras in the vicinity are expected to assist in piecing together the events leading up to the incident.
The body has been taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits identification and a post-mortem examination.
No arrests have been reported.
