As part of ongoing efforts to promote safer roads under the 2024/2025 theme “Do the Right Thing,” the Guyana Police Force conducted a roadside refresher session for drivers along the Madewini Police Outpost on Wednesday, July 2.

Between 16:50 hrs and 17:22 hrs, Inspector Scott, Officer-in-Charge of Traffic Sub-Division #3, Timehri, and Woman Constable Cumberbatch (No. 25413) of the Timehri Police Outpost engaged several drivers in a brief but impactful lecture on key traffic safety measures.

Topics discussed included:

Zero tolerance for speeding

Prohibition of alcohol consumption while driving

Adherence to the “Five C’s” of defensive driving

Proper maintenance of motor vehicles

Ensuring the safety of passengers

Avoiding overloading

Observing double yellow line rules

Restrictions on window tints

Maintaining a tidy appearance as a driver

Ensuring vehicle identification marks are visible

Obeying lawful instructions from police officers

Drivers were given the opportunity to ask questions, which were addressed by the officers. According to reports, participants expressed satisfaction with the information shared and the interactive format of the session.

The initiative forms part of a broader campaign by the Guyana Police Force to enhance public awareness and reduce traffic violations across the country.
