A Trinidadian pathologist is expected to perform a second autopsy this week on the badly burnt remains of tour guide Leon “Rasta” Baird, more than a month after his shocking death.

Baird’s relatives and close associates are hoping the new examination will provide additional answers about the circumstances surrounding his killing.

The 38-year-old has not yet been laid to rest as family members continue to seek clarity on how he died.

Police previously reported that a post-mortem examination conducted by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh found that Baird died as a result of burns.

However, some persons close to the deceased have raised concerns that he may have sustained other life-threatening injuries before his body was set on fire.

Ken Faria, a Community Development Officer from South Rupununi, Region Nine, has since been charged with Baird’s murder.

Baird, who worked at Wichabai Ranch as a tour guide, was last seen alive on January 23.

His badly burnt body was discovered three days later inside a company vehicle that had also been set ablaze.

Authorities continue their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
