FOX News and the BBC are reporting that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife have been indicted in the Southern District of New York and are being transported to the United States following what is described as a US-led capture operation.

According to the reports, US Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed that Maduro faces multiple serious charges, including narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices against the United States.

While the indictment of Maduro’s wife was confirmed, details of the specific charges against her were not disclosed.

The reports further state that the couple is en route to New York, with transportation involving both helicopter and ship.

Former US President Donald Trump, speaking to FOX News, said the operation had been planned days earlier but was delayed due to unfavourable weather conditions.

Trump also claimed that Maduro was captured at a heavily fortified location, described as resembling a fortress rather than a residence.

He indicated that no US soldiers were killed during the operation, although some personnel reportedly sustained injuries and have since returned and are said to be recovering.

The developments, as reported by FOX News and the BBC, have not yet been independently verified, and the situation continues to unfold.
