The festive season officially kicked off on Sunday, November 30, as families, friends, and holiday enthusiasts gathered at the Rahaman’s Park Triangle for the annual Christmas Tree Light-Up—an event that has become a beloved tradition in Georgetown.

This year’s celebration featured a vibrant and optimistic message from Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Susan Rodrigues, who delivered the evening’s featured address.

She highlighted the tree-lighting ceremony as a joyful signal that Christmas is near, noting its role in inspiring nationwide excitement for the season.

The Minister emphasized that events like this contribute significantly to the beautification of the city while fostering a warm and uniquely Guyanese Christmas atmosphere.

She expressed pride in supporting initiatives that bring all Guyanese together, celebrating unity, joy, and the enduring spirit of the holidays.

Minister Rodrigues encouraged the values of love and hope to guide citizens not only during the Christmas season but throughout the year.

She also shared her anticipation for the upcoming opening of the Christmas Village, another major attraction on the holiday calendar.

The Minister commended the Rahaman family for their consistent commitment to hosting the annual tree-lighting ceremony, praising their dedication to creating a space that brings communities together in celebration.

With bright lights, cheerful faces, and a renewed sense of togetherness, the event once again set a heartwarming tone for the Christmas season across Guyana.
