Police Constable Remanded on Child Rape Charge

A 19-year-old Police Constable, Erwin Gentle of Supenaam, Essequibo Coast, has been remanded to prison after being charged with the rape of a child under sixteen years.
The charge was filed on October 6, 2025, by a rank from the Gender-Based Violence Unit of Regional Division 4B, following investigations into the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
Gentle appeared at the Friendship Magistrates’ Court before Her Worship Magistrate Tameika Clarke, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead and was subsequently remanded to prison.
The case has been adjourned to October 27, 2025, for the presentation of protection statements.
