Defending champions Santa Rosa Primary School opened their title defence of the Courts Optical Pee-Wee Tournament with two wins on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground.

Santa Rosa topped Goed Fortune Primary 6-nil in their opening game of the day with Taz LaRose scoring four goals in the match. Michael Harris also netted two goals to aid the defending champs in their first win of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa returned later in the day to top North Georgetown 1-nil with LaRose scoring the game’s lone goal.

Runner’s up of last year’s tournament, Marian Academy got off to a slow start in their quest to get back to the final with a nil all draw against Georgetown International Academy.

West Ruimveldt Primary looked a threatening side in their opener with a 4-nil win against St. Aloysius Primary School. Yanique Cadogan scored a hat-trick for West while Ceon Rajkumar boosted a goal of his own as well.

Redeemer Primary School and Smith Memorial Primary had the closest match of the day with the former prevailing 3-2. Aaron Lall scored a double in the game while Orlanzo Webster added a solo effort.

In other results of the day; Tucville Primary defeated St. Stephen 2-nil, St. Gabriel’s Primary topped St. Stephen 3-nil, Leonora Primary outclassed Clonbrook Primary 4-1, Potaro Primary defeated Winfer Gardens 3-1, St. Pius Primary drew nil all with Agatash Primary and Batavia Primary played to a nil all draw with St. Mary’s Primary School.

The tournament continues on October 4 with another 12 games slated for kickoff from 10:00hrs at the Ministry of Education ground.
