89-Y-O found dead in canal at Mainstay/Whyaka

An 89-year-old pensioner of Mainstay/Whyaka, Essequibo Coast, has died following a suspected drowning on Wednesday between 12:45 hrs and 15:30 hrs.
According to police, the deceased, David France, was last seen alive at his home around 12:45 hrs. Reports indicate he would regularly bathe in a canal located about 120 feet east of his residence.
When he could not be located later in the afternoon, checks were made and he was found floating in the canal near his home.
He was removed from the water and taken to the Lima Regional Hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.
An examination of the body revealed no visible marks of violence. It is currently at the Suddie Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
