June 5, 2025 – Georgetown, Guyana: A 28-year-old driver from Annandale, East Coast Demerara, was charged with two counts of facilitating a terrorist act and granted bail totaling $1 million during his court appearance on Tuesday.

Jason Jacobis, of Lot 131 Prashad Street, Annandale, was arrested by a Detective Corporal attached to the Ruimveldt Police Station.

He is accused of committing the offences on May 17, 2025, at two locations: the East Ruimveldt Police Station Outpost and the GPL sub-station on Aubrey Barker Road.

Jacobis appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where he was formally charged.

Although the prosecution objected to bail, the court granted Jacobis $500,000 bail for each offence, totaling $1 million. As part of his bail conditions, he was ordered to surrender his passport and report to the Ruimveldt Police Station every Friday morning at 9:00 AM.

The matter has been adjourned until July 2, 2025, as investigations continue.
