May 20, 2025 – Police are investigating a tragic incident that claimed the life of 58-year-old Joseph Sahadeo of Grant Ville Park, Beterverwagting (BV), East Coast Demerara. The fatal incident occurred around 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 18, at Splashmin Fun Park and Village.

According to initial investigations, Sahadeo had travelled to the recreational facility with his wife, Goumattie Singh, his daughter, Padmini Sahadeo, and other relatives. The family had brought along two jet skis for the outing.

Upon arriving at Splashmin, the watercraft were launched, and Sahadeo mounted one of the jet skis, while his daughter and a friend used the other. During the activity, Sahadeo reportedly collided with the jet ski being operated by his daughter. The impact caused him to strike his head and fall into the water.

Family members and friends quickly rescued him and rushed him to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where medical personnel pronounced him dead upon arrival. Visible injuries were observed on his head and face.

The body was later transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
