A 28-year-old man is expected to appear in court on Thursday, March 26, to face charges of attempted murder and rape following a brutal attack that left a teenage girl, under the age of 16, seriously injured.

Reports indicate that the suspect, Christopher Ally also known as “Pinky,” had gone into hiding after the incident but was later apprehended by civilians and handed over to authorities.

According to information received, the man allegedly confessed to the attack during questioning.

The suspect is also said to have made threats against the teen’s life.

The attack occurred on the night of February 24 in Berbice.

It is alleged that the suspect gained entry to the house and stabbed her multiple times before fleeing the scene.

The young woman was later discovered by a friend in a critical condition and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital, where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Her injuries reportedly included a punctured lung. She has since made a significant recovery and was discharged.

The suspect was subsequently spotted near the Berbice River by a group of civilians, who apprehended him and later handed him over to authorities.

Ally will also be charged with rape of a minor.

He is expected to be formally arraigned as the matter proceeds before the court.
