April 25 2025– An investigation has been launched into a reported break and enter and larceny at the Ministry of Labour’s regional office, located at Lot 228 Grant Vryman’s Erven, New Amsterdam, Berbice.

According to a police report, the incident is believed to have occurred between 3:30 PM on April 22 and 7:30 AM on April 23, 2025. Stolen from the premises were a desktop computer, a backup battery, and a water pump.

The building, a two-storey concrete structure secured by wooden doors with external locks and internally fitted glass windows, was reportedly locked and secured by a 52-year-old cleaner on the afternoon of April 22.

However, upon her return the following morning, she discovered the western door and a window open. She immediately raised an alarm and alerted the authorities.

Police responded and conducted a search of the premises. The missing items were confirmed, and investigators canvassed the surrounding area for CCTV footage. One surveillance camera was identified nearby, and officers are currently reviewing the footage for leads.

The investigation remains ongoing.
