April 23, 2025 – Police in Regional Division #2 have launched a full investigation into the death of wanted man Kellon Fredericks, also known as “El Chapo,” whose body was discovered early this morning at the Onderneeming Sand Pit, commonly referred to as “Sweet Hole.”

According to a police report, Fredericks, 23, was found with suspected gunshot wounds to his head and upper back.

Acting on a tip-off, police ranks responded to the scene at around 6:18 a.m., where they discovered his body lying face-down in an open area surrounded by dense vegetation.

He was clad in long black jeans and a long-sleeved jersey. Items found near the body included a pair of rubber slippers, a black ski mask, and a grey cap stained with what appeared to be blood.

Crime scene investigators processing the area found a single mattress, several empty snack packets, one live 7.62 x 39 ammunition round, two cards of Panadol tablets, and multiple pieces of clothing nearby, suggesting the area may have been used as a hideout.

The body was transported to the Suddie Hospital, where a doctor officially pronounced Fredericks dead.

His remains were positively identified by his 38-year-old aunt and taken to the Suddie Hospital Mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.

Fredericks and his brother, Kevin Fredericks, along with several others, were wanted in connection with more than 30 armed robberies spanning Regions 2, 3, and 7 between 2023 and 2025.

The group was also linked to the murders of a Bartica businessman and his employee, as well as a businessman from Adventure on the Essequibo Coast.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Fredericks’ death are ongoing.
