Man charged for raping girl, 12
A man who is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl on several occasions was today charged and released on $150,000 bail. 21-year-old Triston Telford appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that between December 1, 2018, and December 31, 2018, at Georgetown, he engaged in sexual penetration with a girl under the age of 16. The matter was heard in-camera and members of the public and the media were asked to leave the courtroom. The condition of the bail is that he report to the Alberttown Police Station every Thursday until the hearing and determination of the matter.
He was also ordered not to make contact with the victim. His next court appearance is January 7, 2021.
