January 24, 2025– Justice Zamilla Ally-Seepaul has ruled in favor of Marlon Jacobs, also known as “Freedom Boss,” and his partner Leah Jones in their defamation lawsuit against Allison Hunte, popularly known as “Aunty Allo.”

The case arose after Ms. Hunte made defamatory allegations during a Facebook live broadcast, accusing Mr. Jacobs and Ms. Jones of being cocaine traffickers, among other insults.

Both Jacobs and Jones filed a claim, asserting that these statements damaged their reputation and character.

In her ruling, Justice Ally-Seepaul agreed with the plaintiffs, finding that their reputation had been harmed. She issued the following orders against Ms. Hunte:

• Permanent Injunction: Ms. Hunte is prohibited from making defamatory statements about Mr. Jacobs and Ms. Jones on social media or any other platform.

• Damages: Ms. Hunte is required to pay GYD$3 million to Mr. Jacobs and GYD$3 million to Ms. Jones, with interest accruing on both amounts.

• Legal Costs: Ms. Hunte must cover the legal expenses of GYD$500,000 for Mr. Jacobs and GYD$400,000 for Ms. Jones. All payments are to be made by March 10, 2025.

Attorneys Renea Marcus, Casside Nurse, and Eusi Anderson, with lead paralegal Malachi Griffith, represented the plaintiffs in the matter.

Following the judgment, Mr. Jacobs and Ms. Jones expressed their gratitude to the court for restoring their reputation.

According to a statement issued by the Chambers of Eusi Anderson ESQ, this ruling serves as a reminder of the importance of accountability and the consequences of making unfounded allegations in public forums.
