Court Sentences Woman to 24 Months for Cocaine Possession

January 12 2025- A 36-year-old mother of three, Attie Trotz, was sentenced to 24 months in prison and fined $30,000 after pleading guilty to cocaine possession.

The sentence was delivered on Friday by Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown
Magistrates’s Courts.

The charge originated from a police operation conducted on January 8, 2025, at a property on
Charlotte Street, Georgetown.

During the search, officers found 29.5 grammes of cocaine concealed in Trotz’s handbag. Laboratory
testing later confirmed the substance to be cocaine.

Trotz was promptly arrested and taken to the Alberttown Police Station, where the charge of
possession of cocaine was officially filed against her.

Upon her appearance in court, Trotz expressed remorse and pleaded guilty to the offence.

Magistrate Azore advised her that the guilty plea carried a potential maximum sentence of three
years in prison. Trotz, however, maintained her admission of guilt.

In determining the sentence, the court considered her plea and imposed a 24-month prison term
along with a $30,000 fine.

Initially, the prosecution informed the court that Trotz had no prior convictions. However, a review
of court records revealed a previous charge.

In March 2021, she had appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly for a breaking-and-entering
case. It was alleged that between March 5 and 6, 2021, Trotz and accomplices broke into a store on
South Road, Bourda, and stole 72 glass mugs valued at $144,000.
