December 16, 2024 – Ridley Joseph, the Toshao of Tasserene village in the Middle Mazaruni, Region 7, was found dead this morning in a hotel room at the Signature Inn, located in Queenstown, Georgetown.

Joseph was reportedly among several Toshaos who traveled to Georgetown for a series of National Toshao Council executive meetings scheduled between today and Wednesday.

The grim discovery was made by a housekeeper at the hotel on Monday morning. Authorities were notified immediately, and the police have since launched an investigation.

At this time, it remains unclear whether foul play was involved in Joseph’s death. Police sources indicate that the deceased was part of a group of Indigenous representatives staying at the hotel while in Georgetown for official business.

The incident has left many shocked, with fellow Toshaos and Indigenous leaders awaiting further details. Police have yet to release any official statements regarding the circumstances of the death or potential leads in the case.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
