ANSA McAL Renews Sponsorship for Parkside Steel Orchestra

February 6, 2025 — ANSA McAL Distribution Inc. (AMDI) has once again renewed its sponsorship of the Parkside Steel Orchestra for this year’s highly anticipated Panorama competition, scheduled for February 19 at Kingston Beach.
During a ceremony at AMDI’s headquarters, Darshanie Yusuf-Abel, Divisional Head – Beverage, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Parkside, recognizing the band’s dedication to musical excellence and community development.
“Parkside has done amazing, winning tournaments continuously. It is not only about winning, but Parkside has also been building into generations, into communities, forming the next generation of pannists,” Yusuf-Abel stated.
She emphasized that AMDI’s sponsorship is not limited to the Panorama competition, as the company remains committed to assisting the band beyond the event.
Established in 1998, the ANSA McAL Parkside Steel Orchestra has been a dominant force in steel pan music, securing more than ten Mashramani Panorama titles. The band also operates ‘The Pan Wave Academy,’ which provides young children with an opportunity to learn the steel pan and develop their musical skills.
Expressing appreciation for the sponsorship, Band Chairman Reon Miller thanked AMDI for its continued support, particularly in preparation for this year’s competition, where the band will perform Passion by Militant.
Additionally, Hennessy has joined as a sponsor, strengthening the band’s backing for the competition. Akeem Prowell, Senior Brand Manager – Hennessy, highlighted the brand’s long-standing connection to music and Caribbean culture, making the partnership with Parkside a natural fit.
As part of the Mashramani celebrations, AMDI has also launched Pan on the Wall, a weekly cultural steel pan showcase running every Friday until February 21. The ANSA McAL Parkside Steel Orchestra will take the stage tomorrow and later compete against three other bands for the inaugural Pan on the Wall 2025 title.
