AGRI Min Highlights Transformative Initiatives at Diplomatic Meet

October 22 2024 – Earlier today, Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha attended a luncheon at the Grand Coastal International Hotel, hosted for members of the Diplomatic Corps and heads of international and regional organizations.
The event was organized by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) delegations in Guyana.
In his remarks, Minister Mustapha highlighted several transformative agricultural initiatives currently underway in Guyana.
He emphasized the government’s ongoing collaboration with organizations like IICA and FAO to drive agricultural development.
“Over the past four years, the Government of Guyana has invested more than GY$234.5 billion to not only develop the agriculture sector but also to build a resilient and sustainable food ecosystem. We are witnessing increased yields, expansion in production, diversification, greater use of technology, and the active involvement of youth and women in agriculture,” Minister Mustapha stated.
These initiatives aim to ensure long-term food security while enhancing the role of agriculture in Guyana’s growing economy.
