Legitimacy concerns raised over convict’s GoFundMe Campaign

Convicted Criminal Keron Bruce
As criminally convicted photographer Keron Bruce capitalizes on the minuscule support from the public after his conviction last Friday, the legitimacy of his quest to beg the public for money through a GoFundMe campaign is now being questioned by many on social media.
Persons are now asking questions such as what becomes of any extra money should the GoFundMe surpass the fifteen thousand United States Dollar target that Bruce has set for his begging campaign which amounts to the total fine the court ordered that he pays within one month.
Questions are also being asked on whether Bruce will return any money to the donors who contributed out of pity for him should he appeal his mater and get his conviction overturned. The convicted criminal has publicly stated his intentions to appeal the ruling of the magistrates’ Court.

On Tuesday, Bruce lashed out at a senior journalist who questioned if he, Bruce was not appealing the ruling. The journalist also reminded that in appealing a lawyer would apply to the court to have a stay of the magistrate’s order including the fine imposed which would mean the need for the GoFundMe becomes unnecessary.
In layman’s terms, a stay of a ruling means that a higher judicial court puts a hold on the ruling of a lower judicial court. In Keron Bruce’s matter, if he successfully attains a stay, he will no longer need to pay the three million dollar fine unless his appeal is lost in the higher court.
Convicted criminal Keron Bruce in response to a social media comment from a senior journalist, suggested that the comment would discourage persons from contributing to his GoFundMe Campaign. The convict also stated that the comment suggests that he Bruce, is dishonest.
If Convict Bruce appeals his case and wins after collecting monies from the GoFundMe Campaign, how or what he does with the money raised from his begging campaign may determine his honesty given his response suggests to the senior journalist that his comments suggest he is dishonest. The convict’s returning of donated funds to many who out of pity might have given of their last to help him, is something the public will have to wait and see.
Photographer Keron Bruce was charged in 2022 with cybercrime offenses after he used a computer system to defame, slander, and humiliate journalist Leroy Smith through the Mudwata Character. The matter which went on for two years in the court concluded on Friday after evidence provided by the prosecution determined that Keron Bruce is the human figure behind the Mudwata Character that has slandered and defamed, women, professionals, politicians, and members of the judiciary.
Bruce for years dedicated his life to hiding behind a computer and name, shame, and assassinate the character of persons thinking that he would have never been caught.
After he was caught and placed before the courts, the content on the Guyana Uncut Platform and content produced by Mudwata, toned down tremendously since a face was now attached to the slanders and character assassinations that many persons were subjected to, making it difficult for Bruce to safely continue the attacks on his victims.
Convicted Criminal Keron Bruce then sought to carve out a different path by announcing himself as a public figure with an interest in politics. The move was seen by many as an apparent effort to remain relevant and muster public support since he could no longer hide behind a computer system and create unfettered slanderous and libelous content for public consumption.
