The Pegasus Hotel provided the platform for the second installment of the Local Content Summit. Under the theme “Creating value, driving economic expansion,” the summit highlighted the crucial connection between local content development and sustainable progress.

In a nation abundant with natural resources, fostering local participation in the petroleum sector’s value chain is deemed essential.

During his keynote address, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali emphasized that the objective of local content extends beyond domestic involvement alone. He stated, “We want to use local content to accelerate local growth and development to be number one in the region.”

The Local Content Act serves as a fundamental pillar, ensuring that the benefits of resource extraction resonate for Guyanese citizens and businesses alike. By prioritizing local talent, services, and goods, the Act not only fosters economic resilience but also encourages direct participation and growth among Guyanese nationals.

In addition to the keynote address, the event featured discussions on the progress of the Guyana Petroleum Resources Governance and Management Project. Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, provided insights into the project’s advancements and its implications for the nation’s economic landscape.

The Local Content Summit serves as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and strategic planning, aimed at maximizing the benefits of Guyana’s natural resources for the prosperity of its people.
