In another step to see the revitalization of extracurricular activities at the University of Guyana, the UGSS received a donation of sporting equipment from the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA).

The donation, which comprised a number of volleyballs, was handed over last week.

President of the DVA, Kristoff Sheppherd, underscored the associationโ€™s intention to see the universityโ€™s volleyball team restarted after its hiatus owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and other internal issues.

โ€œThe last volleyball team that UG had was 2020โ€ฆI know UGโ€™s core potential because there are people there from all walks of life and we need to give them a chance,โ€ he explained.

Sheppherd acknowledged the work of the UGSS to see sporting activities return to the university and said that this is one of the main reasons the DVA opted to partner with the student organization.

โ€œThe newly elected UGSS has been working a lot. I must say kudos to the President Shaquawn Gill [and his team]. Every promise they have made they have deliveredโ€ฆso we definitely are looking forward to continuing to partner with them,โ€ he pointed out.
