‘Hot Skull’ on trial for murder of Better Hope pensioner

Thursday was the first day for the capital murder trial of Sherwin Clarke called “Hot Skull,” who is accused of the August 21, 2016 murder of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) pensioner, 76-year-old David Ramkissoon also known as “Short Man.”

Clarke, who has retained Attorney-at-Law Damien Da Silva, was arraigned before Demerara High Court Judge Sandil Kissoon on Thursday morning and pleaded not guilty to a murder charge. It is alleged that he murdered the elderly man during the course/ furtherance of a robbery.

State Counsel Mohammed Ali and State Counsel Taneisha Saygon are appearing for the prosecution. Ramkissoon also called “Dillip” was discovered in a pool of blood in the bottom flat of his 61 Better Hope, South, ECD house where he lived with his son, his son’s wife, and their two sons.  He was found with his throat slit.

An undisclosed sum of cash was missing from his home.
