Man with gun jumps into trench to escape from police

The man who has been arrested from the trenches

A man last evening (Tuesday) who was acting in a suspicious manner while riding his motorcycle caught the attention of the police on patrol.

It is reported that just after 18:15hrs the ranks attempted to stop the motorcyclist while on Thomas Land.

However the motorcyclist rode and the police gave chase and caught up with him in the vicinity of Albert Street and Thomas Lands.

The suspect dismount his motorcycle and jumped into the trench but was eventually arrested.

The ranks then called for backup and two additional party of policemen and a search was carried out on his motorcycle, his person and the surrounding area.

A policeman who decided to enter the trench and carry out a search discovered a firearm and matching ammunition.

The name of the suspect has not been provided to this publication.
