76-Y-O Killed in Vergenoegen Road Accident
A fatal accident on the Vergenoegen public road, East Bank Essequibo, claimed the life of 76-year-old pedestrian Eton Levans on Thursday evening around 7:30 PM.
The accident involved a motorcar, bearing registration #PPP 3346, driven by a 27-year-old resident of Zeelugt North, East Bank Essequibo, and Levans, who lived at Lot 7 Vergenoegen, EBE.
According to police reports, the motorcar was traveling east along the northern side of the public road at a high speed when the vehicle’s left front collided with Levans as he was crossing from south to north. The impact caused Levans to fall onto the road, sustaining severe injuries.
The driver of the vehicle immediately picked up the injured pedestrian and rushed him to Leonora Cottage Hospital. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical attention, Levans succumbed to his injuries.
Levans’ body has been taken to Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it will be stored pending a post-mortem examination. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
