1-Y-O keeps crying for murdered mom to ‘wake up’

Two children, a one-year-old girl, and three-year-old boy will now have to spend the rest of their lives on this earth without the love of a biological mother as she was snatched from them on Thursday when their father unleashed a brutal knife attack on her, weeks after she decided to walk away from an abusive relationship she was enduring for years. 21 Year old Vanessa Benjamin was murdered in her home village of Itacha, West Coast Berbice by Jamol Angus.
On Friday, BIG Smith News Watch where we spoke with relatives of the dead woman who spoke of what they know of the couple and the troubles they were having. It was during that visit that we were told of the toll the absence of the young mother is already having on her youngest child.
Verlinda Collins, a cousin of the dead woman said she was at work when she received the news of what was taking place and quickly dropped everything and went home.
“At that time to me she was already dead, I didn’t have any knowledge of my aunt’s condition or whether she was injured but I stopped the car that was taking them out and I saw her, she was in pain. but Vanessa was already dead, I can’t believe this actually happened, presently her two children are by my mom and whole night the baby keeps crying for her mother calling for her to wake up” related collins.
From all indication, the relatives and the community are still in shock over the incident and even as they expressed total surprise at the actions of Angus who they said never displayed such violent and gruesome tendencies. We were told that the couple’s relationship got rocky and the mother of the now-dead woman asked Angus to leave their home but he reportedly took on the role of a stalker, trailing Vanessa and at times would use the children as bait when he wants to see her, by stating he wanted to see the children.
Collins said she is not sure what triggered the suspect to commit the act “He stabbed my cousin about 15 times about the body, she got on the back, stomach, face and I noticed her hand got a cut like she held the knife. My mom was at home when it happened, she said it happened so quick by the time someone called and told her; by the time she got there it done happen”
Vanessa was regarded as a loving individual who would do whatever it takes to ensure that her children got the best and also cared for others than herself. At the time of her death, she worked at a day-care, this publication was told.
Laurna Collins, an aunt of Vanessa in her conversation with BIG Smith News Watch, recalled that after Jamol was asked to remove from the home, he kept making excuses to see the woman. According to her, her niece did complain about his behavior of late and that he even made threats to her.
“About a month ago she told me that she doesn’t like how Jamol is behaving because he always telling her he gonna kill Vanessa, himself and leave the two children with my sister which is their grandmother because she loves grandchildren” Vanessa’s aunt Laurna Collins told BIG Smith News Watch on Friday.
The suspect continues to be under police guard at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
