Dead: Leon Parahoo
According to the police, the fatal incident occurred between August 17 and 18, 2024. The Guyana Police Force reported that Parahoo succumbed to his injuries on August 23, 2024, while receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
On the day of the incident, Sackoon allegedly requested a ride to Nancy’s Bar on Parika Access Road from a 22-year-old taxi driver. Sackoon, dressed in a dark hoodie and black pants and holding a Guinness, sat in the rear seat of the vehicle. Shortly after the journey began, he asked the driver to stop, claiming he had forgotten something.
Upon returning to the vehicle, Sackoon allegedly confessed to the driver that he had just stabbed someone and threatened to kill the driver if he disclosed the information.
Fearing for his life, the driver continued driving for a short distance before stopping and demanding that Sackoon exit the car. When Sackoon refused, the driver armed himself with a piece of wood, prompting Sackoon to flee.
Authorities later apprehended Sackoon. It was noted that Sackoon and Parahoo were acquainted, having been involved in a previous altercation in 2023, during which Parahoo allegedly stabbed Sackoon.
