The 20-year-old woman who was recently found guilty of attempting to extort $10M from her ex-boyfriend by threatening to tell the Police that he raped her, recently escaped from Police custody. Princess Williams has since been recaptured and was arraigned on a charge for the offence of escaping from lawful custody on Wednesday morning.

The Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) woman appeared before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs- Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.  She pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on May 7, while being in custody at East La Penitence Police Station, she escaped.  She was remanded to prison until June 1.

Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that on the day in question Williams was at the Police station as a result of her being found guilty the previous day for attempting to extort money from her former partner by making a false rape allegation against him.

While at the station, the woman complained of feeling unwell, and as such, an officer took her to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) to seek medical attention. However, while being looked after, she asked to use the washroom, and permission was granted.

Whilst there, she escaped. An alarm was raised and Williams was subsequently found at Thomas and Lamaha Streets, Georgetown with a piece of cloth wrapped around her hands, hiding the handcuff. The Magistrate after listening to the facts remanded the convict to prison.

Last year, Williams was charged after she tried to extort $10M from her ex-lover by telling him she will go to the Police and make a false rape allegation against him.

However, at the conclusion of the trial last week, Magistrate Rhondel Weever found her guilty as charged. As such, she was remanded to prison pending sentencing which is fix for June 6 when a probation report on her will be presented at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Between January 4, 2021, and January 7, 2021, at Georgetown, with intent to extort $10 million from Kenrick Thomas,  Williams threatened to accuse the man of raping her. According to the prosecutor, the woman and Thomas shared a relationship for four months.

The court heard on January 4, 2021, Thomas visited the woman’s home and requested sexual intercourse to which she consented. Shortly after, the two got into a heated argument and the relationship ended.

The court heard that shortly after Williams sent a voice message to Thomas in which she accused him of raping her. In the audio, she also demanded him to give her $10 million to stop her from making a report to that effect to the Police.

Thomas then went and reported the matter to the Police and following an investigation, Williams was arrested, charged, and later found guilty of the crime.
