November 14,2024
Serious Crimes inclusive of murders, robberies and gun crimes are mostly taking place between 18:00hrs and Midnight on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. This was revealed on Thursday morning by the police.
During the force’s Christmas Security Presentation at Eve Leary, both Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum and 4A Commander Simon McBean alluded to this trend.
Given the stats and reality, the police force is expected to increase all forms of its anti-crime and other patrols, especially for the Christmas Season.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum explained that foot, motor, K9 and mounted patrols will be more visible during the period. The work of the police will be aided by the Smart City Cameras which are mounted in several police regions.
For Georgetown, markets, malls, banks, bus parks hotels, shipping agencies, residential areas and other facilities and places where economic activities are to increase during this presence will see added police presence and policing to mitigate crime, Commander McBean noted.
The use of drones, body cameras and radio sets will provide smoother communication between law enforcement teams.
