Three vehicle smash-up leaves occupants injured; unmasked spectators flock scene

Three vehicle smash-up leaves occupants injured; unmasked spectators flock scene

A three-vehicle smash-up on the Enmore, East Coast Demerara Public Road has left a number of persons injured and extensive damage to the vehicles involved.

BIG Smith News Watch has been informed that the accident took place sometime after 19:00hrs and involved a black Mercedes Benz- PYY 6534, Sliver-Grey Premio- PPP 4779, and a White Landcruiser- PXX 6902.

This publication was told that the Landcruiser was heading west while the Mercedes Benz was traveling behind it. At some point, the Landcruiser server into the path of the Premio which was heading east.

The driver of the Premio then lost control and ended up into the path of Mercedes Benz resulting in extensive damage to its front, while the Premio received severe damage to its left side after spinning, this is even as the Landcruiser flipped on its side and almost ended up into a canal.

When BIG Smith News Watch arrived on the scene the police were already there investigating the crash, directing traffic to clear a build-up while an ambulance was now leaving the scene. We were told that at the time the ambulance left, there were no fatalities.

Also evident at the crash site were hundreds of persons gathered to spectate what was taking place, many of them, without protective masks despite warnings for masks to be worn by persons when in public to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and to practice social distancing.

The police are continuing their probe into the accident.
