Minister of Human Services and Social Security Dr. Vindhya Persaud has publicly slammed two political figures after one delivered a crude sexual slogan directed to women from the rostrum of a Peoples Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) rally and another who is aligned with the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) brandishing a machete while issuing an expletive-laced address to Education Minister Priya Manickchand. Leonard Craig and Bryan Mackintosh AKA ‘Brian Max’ are the two figures the minister addressed respectively in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon.
“So I got a woman thing for you, and hear me, from the moment she slime up till you get caught up we will take care of you” Leonard Craig told a PPP Rally
“Tell Priya Manikchand I am going to f@cking come back here, tell Alphonso I will come back here … You got to stop raping and robbing the country, every thing the country got yall want to thief.” Max is heard in the video shouting.
Both issues raised by the minister were captured on video and have been making the rounds on social media.
Not mincing words in her condemnation she was adamant, “ the list goes on when it comes to women who bear the brunt of these kinds of comments disproportionately,” punctuating her point bluntly stating, “I said it!”
“This is elections season and people need to be held responsible for actions and words, all sense cannot be lost.” Minister Persaud stated in her Facebook Post
Her post came as a video circulated of a WIN Party, Bryan ‘Mad’ Max waving a machete and shouting threats and profanities aimed at Minister Manickchand and someone identified as ‘Alphonso’ believed to be part of her protective detail.
According to the Government Minister, “A WIN member threatening Minister Manikchand with a weapon,” has no place in Guyana’s politics.
The minister also publicly railed against Lennox Craig who has of recent, publicly supported the PPP, the party of which she, Minister Persaud is also a member. His offence public comments stated
According to Persaud, “This is elections season…people need to be held responsible for actions and words.”
